I need some advice (from both girls and guys)?

There's this kid i like but he's a year younger than me. We hang out like every weekend and we're really good friends. I want to tell him that i like him but im not sure how to tell him. Should i tell him when we're with our friends or should i take him aside and tell him. Im just so confused help pleaseI need some advice (from both girls and guys)?
First off, don't let the age difference scare you. If you're both mature enough to date, then what's one year? When you tell him, don't make it a big thing. Wait until you two are alone, but don't set it up to be that way either. Just say something like, ';Hey, ____, I guess it doesn't really matter, but I thought you should know that I like you. It's okay if you don't feel the same 'cuz I know it might be weird after we've been just friends, but...'; However you say it, leave him an out. take him aside and flirt a bit to see if he likes you back. you can say something like sooo.... when are you going to ask me out. if he sends a good response then keep going with the flow. if he send a bad response just say I'm joking gosh your so gullible. that way you know if he likes you or not.
Of course you should do it privately. It's less awkward if it doesn't work out and it makes you more serious about the situation. You're letting the kid know that it's not a joke or anything.
invite him and him only to a party or just for an afternoon and ask him. guys love it when girls make the first move so be flirty and touch him as much as you can on the shoulder hand ect
You two should be alone before you tell him anything. Make sure to let him know you like him and everything else on your mind.
